PLHS Counseling Services

“High school years are full of growth, promise, excitement, frustration, disappointment and hope.  It is the time when students begin to discover what the future holds for them.  High school counselors support students in achieving optimal personal growth, acquiring positive social skills and values, setting appropriate career goals, and realizing full academic potential to become productive, responsible global citizens.” (American School Counselor Association)

Pt. Loma High School provides a number of counseling services, including:

 Individual or group counseling

Crisis prevention, intervention, and support

Peer mediation / conflict resolutions

Positive Intervention Committee:  Respect, Responsibility, and Safety at PLHS

Educational assemblies promoting healthy life styles

 Meetings with students and parents:

·          Scheduling of appropriate classes for graduation

Interventions with academically and socially at-risk students
