Gifted and Talented

The goals of this learning community is to coordinate communications in the Point Loma cluster regarding the GATE / GATE Seminar programs. This community will include each school site as well as vertical teaming between grade levels and school sites.

A large community of parents, teachers and administrators now have a venue to learn about the program in the PLCS and communicate concerns/ideas to the sites/district. This LC was defined to address the needs specific to GATE in the PLC.

This community has also enabled GATE DAC reps (teacher and parents) to communicate with each other and engage their own school site.


GATE Seminar
Through this community, the seminar teachers at the elementary and middle schools collaborate to share best practices, align programs, and brainstorm innovative approaches. Parent meetings at the middle schools have been set at the end of the school year prior to site transitions to inform parents and students what is ahead in the continuation of programs.
