What: Dollars for Scholars volunteers, students and anyone who believes in increasing access to post secondary education will gather for a 5k walk around the campus at San Diego State University, and enjoy a College Fair, entertainment and raffle prizes. Dollars for Scholars chapters will keep 100 percent of what they raise for scholarships.

Why: Too many students are *locked out* of college by rising costs. One of the best ways to help is by increasing private scholarships.  Since 1958, Dollars for Scholars has been doing just that throughout the U.S. by creating and supporting community-based, volunteer-led scholarship groups. In 2007, Dollars for Scholars volunteers awarded over $403,000 in scholarships to San Diego students. With your help they will be able to award more next year!

When & Where: Saturday, October 25, 2008. Times: 8:30 a.m. registration, 10:00 a.m. walk start. From the I-8, take College Avenue exit and go south. San Diego State University will be on your right. Follow the Dollars for Scholars signs to Parking Structure 4. Walk over the pedestrian bridge and through West Commons. The registration and walk start area will take place at Scripps Cottage.
