The International Trades’ Mini Summit is a culminating project of 2.5 months of hard work for our International Trades students. They work in groups of 4 or so, become a “country” and have to study the economy, trade, finance, government, society, etc. of the country.

This summit is then where they dress up like the country’s people, display their information and the unique aspects of their country, AND actually trade, negotiate and work with money for the betterment of their country and alliances.

It is a high energy event filled with drama, arguments, peace & war.  It is an excellent example of hands-on education at work.

ALSO - Based on the results of this mini-summit… the countries that win are invited to compete in the Federal Reserve USC International Trades Summit in Los Angeles. At that event they compete with over 80 other high schools for top California honors. Each year PLHS has run away with the top winners in all the various categories – and this year is shaping up to be no different!

The event is the entire school day (730-215) on Thursday, November 19th in our Library/Media Center. Mary Jean Delcampo is the instructor, a member of the Federal Reserve comes down, and staff members and business folks will be on hand to judge.

Throughout the entire day students are acting as if they are their country representatives – and some are even chosen to “argue” their cause before a UN type gathering.

This is an event that can't be missed!  Come see the students in action!
