Board Meeting: Prop S Update (Possible i21 delay)

At the February 26th Tiger Team Progress Status Meeting, the IT Efficiency Team reported out that the overwhelming consensus of the team was to recommend to the board that the i21 program rollout should continue and remain on course. Scott Barnett, co-chair of the SDUSD Operations and Efficiency Committee, stated at the meeting that he supported postponing i21 for 2 years. His comment was made after hearing from the Efficiency Team and is in direct opposition to their findings/recommendations to date. He also stated that i21 was part of the discussion in the Prop S update that is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1st at 5:00 pm at the Ed Center.

 

His intention to postpone i21 rollout for 2 years translates to our 5th and 8th graders being denied access to the i21 classroom experience that is called out in Prop S – which voters have already approved.

 

Your help is needed. If you can attend the March 1st Board meeting at the Ed Center Auditorium at 5:00 pm, your presence will send a message to our Board members that parents, students, and staff want to stay the course with the i21 initiative and maintain continuity for students in upcoming years.
