Cabrillo National Monument's Educator Open House is a chance for teachers to
learn about the many opportunities for teaching and learning that exist
outside of the classroom. Exhibitors from a variety of land management,
non-profit, and environmental education organizations will be on hand to
discuss these opportunities and to distribute educational materials.

"Teachers work so hard every day and it is wonderful to have this
opportunity to do something for them," said Rick Jenkins, education
coordinator for Cabrillo National Monument. "We want to honor teachers, but
we also want to inform them of the exciting and diverse educational
opportunities that exist beyond the school grounds."

Cabrillo National Monument will honor teachers during this event by opening
the tower to the Old Point Loma Lighthouse to allow a rare glimpse of the
city from the very top of San Diego's National Park. Furthermore, the
evening will see the opening of the new art exhibit: Art throughout the
Park: A Celebration of Cabrillo on Canvas. Live music will round out what
is sure to be an entertaining and educational evening.

If you are an educator and would like to attend this event, please RSVP to
Rick Jenkins at [email protected] or 619-523-4573.

The 1st Annual Educator Open House is sponsored by Cabrillo National
