Point Loma Association Annual Dinner

What
Point Loma Association Annual Dinner
When
10/3/2013

Point Loma Association was organized in 1961 and had its first Membership Dinner in June 1964. Originally called "Point Loma Village Beautiful," we were primarily concerned with the aesthetics of the Village. In 1967, we began our attack on billboards. Of the 11 originally standing, only two remain. There are pictures of Rosecrans with a twirling KFC bucket, an enormous Jack popping from his box, and a huge donut - all gone due to our efforts.

Through the years, we have planted Jacarandas, Sycamores, Pepper and Palm Trees, and, most recently, an eco-friendly garden at Nimitz and West Point Loma Blvd. We have worked with local artists to paint their beautiful designs on utility boxes, added colorful street banners, and are working hard to reduce and replace unsightly news racks. The Point Loma Summer Concerts have been a project of Point Loma Association since 2002.

Today, in addition to beautifying the Peninsula, PLA represents the community through direct involvement with agencies of federal, state and local governments, the Port District, the San Diego Unified School District, the Peninsula Planning Board and others who directly affect our quality of life.

PLA membership consists of residents and local businesses working together. We donate time, effort and money to make the Peninsula a better place to live and work through beautification, education, charitable activities, and civic collaboration. Membership for a family is as little as $30 per year.
